I was first introduced to this fabulous little bar just off the Plaza Jeronimo Cuervo (where the Teatro Cervantes is) a couple of years ago by friends who had just moved to Málaga. Co-owners and partners Gabriel and Romina have created a super-popular spot that is always packed with locals and visitors alike. If you don’t call ahead to book a table either get there early or be prepared to wait a while.
There’s a great selection of wines by the glass to pair with either traditional or innovative tapas. Favourites include the crispy jamón & manchego cheese flamenquín, grilled red tuna with cauliflower and carrot purées and the grilled secreto Ibérico. Be sure to check out the daily specials. Excellent value for money.
Also check out their second location El Mesón de Cervantes around the corner at calle Álamos 11.

Looks like a great place and nice looking fish tapas!
It’s become one of my favourite tapas bars in Málaga, Paddy. Looking forward to seeing their new roomier place when it opens.
I don’t put prices, Lisa, because they can change at any time. This one is medium priced which is why it has a € € € price rating.
We’re not prone to gushing reviews but this tiny restaurant deserves its status as best in Malaga. Great service, fantastic wine list and the menu contains lots of interesting twists on classic tapas. Really inventive cooking.
Thank you for your great reviews of Malaga’s wonderful tapas bars. They helped us decide where to go last November. We will be back again in June and have planned another tapas tour. Your photos make me hungry!
I’m looking forward to trying their new place Mesón de Cervantes when I go back to Málaga in July.
